  • 15 huge raw shrimp, each with the veins removed.
  • 1 tbsp. fish sauce
  • Paprika and a dash of black pepper

Savory fish dipping sauce from Vietnam (Nuoc Mam)

  • 2 tbsp. fish sauce to your liking, add more or less
  • 2 tbsp. of hot water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons coconut water or soda
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • Lime juice, half to your liking, add more or less
  • 2 red Thai peppers (optional)

Instructions for Com Tom Nuong Recipe

Vermicelli of rice

  1. Vermicelli is added to boiling water in a medium-sized pot.
  2. When cooking vermicelli, adhere to the directions on the package.

Make a shrimp marinade.

  1. Combine the shrimp, fish sauce, salt, and paprika in a medium bowl. For 15 minutes, cover and marinate.

Spreadable sauce

  1. Place all the ingredients in a small to medium bowl, and whisk until the sugar is dissolved.


  1. 3–4 minutes per side on the direct grill at high heat or until thoroughly done

Setting up the bowl

  1. In the bottom of the bowl, add the cooked vermicelli.
  2. Place toppings in a circle around the bowl’s perimeter.
  3. Place the center with 5 grilled shrimp.
  4. Over the dish, pour the dipping sauce.
